{"id":354,"date":"2008-05-31T12:17:32","date_gmt":"2008-05-31T12:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wordpress\/?p=354"},"modified":"2008-05-31T12:17:32","modified_gmt":"2008-05-31T12:17:32","slug":"isolatedtribecapturedfromabove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeffginger.com\/blog\/isolatedtribecapturedfromabove\/","title":{"rendered":"Isolated tribe captured from above"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/alex\/UndiscoveredTribeHuts.png!\nThese are aerial photographs taken by a small research plane working with Brazil's National Indian Foundation (\"FUNAI\":<a href=\"http:\/\/www.funai.gov.br\/\">http:\/\/www.funai.gov.br\/<\/a> -Portuguese site), a governmental office that tracks and tries to protect indigenous groups thought to have had no contact with the outside world.  According to FUNAI, there are over 100 uncontacted tribes throughout the world and half of those are, like this one, in the dense rain forest of Peru and western Brazil.\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/alex\/UndiscoveredTribeDrawingBows.png!\nI honestly don't know how to react to these images of people in bright red body paint pointing their bows at what they cannot possibly comprehend as a man-made vehicle.  Do we have an obligation to contact them or to not?
